Update Report for Fred Davis

As of August 11, 1997

PLEASE CALL THE CHURCH, (505) 526-4907, OR DAVID SALLEE AT THE PRESBYTERIAN CAMPUS MINSTRY, (505) 522-6404 FOR RECENT NEWS ABOUT FRED'S RECOVERY.

August 11, 1997

Fred preached at Northminster; a stirring message on rejoicing in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice! He celebrated his time with us, the joy of suffereing for the Lord, the many ways he's been able to witness to others during this time, and the great witness all of you have been through your prayers, cards, letters, e-mail, etc. He held up a t-shirt Paul Deason gave him, aRugby shirt saying; that which does not kill you, makes you stronger and he joked about a card that began, "I hear you've been feeling RUN down lately!" It was a great closure to a faithful and fruitful ministry of Fred and Judy during their time with us in Las Cruces. The pot-luck was quite full-filling too!

Fred shares that home is a little more difficult with the house not being as handicapped accessible (two stories, narrow door ways and thick carpet). Sad news is that Brandon, Fred's special Golden retriever companion who even visited Fred in the hospital was killed a week ago while out running with Melissa, Fred's daughter. They could also use prayers for selling their house, and prayers of praise for the Fred David Accident Fund, our church's disablility insurance, the Enumclaw church, their Presbytery and the Presbytery of Sierra Blanca all pitching in to help with the great financial burden.

Fred was moved in June to El Paso where he underwent his physical therapy. He has since moved back home to his house in Las Cruces on August 1st. He and Judy will be there for at least a couple of months before moving up to Enumclaw, Washington. The recovery is coming along well, although not as well as Fred would like. Please continue to pray for his recovery and healing.

June 6, 1997

Fred is now out of Critical Care and on the orthopeadic ward in room 611b in Memorial Medical Center. His neck has been fused, and he is able to sit up some now, his pelvis is held together with many; pins and then a series of bars above his pelvis and visible as they suport the pelvis while it heals. Fred has mostly good days, but as you might expect is dealing with the realitly of the severity of his injuries. He appreciates the prayers from around the world and country. We feel that many miracles have already occured, and his recovery this far is strong and fast given the injuries. He has one leg left in traction, can sit up in bed and is beginning his physical therapy. The plan is still for he and Judy to move to Enumclaw, Washington as he begins completing his treatment. He still has one big operation in a month or two to replace the right hip. He's not looking forward to that after two major operations this last week.
